Vision and aims of the website
The vision of Jean Hailes is physical and emotional health and wellbeing in all its dimensions for all women in Australia throughout their lives.
Jean Hailes for Women's Health develops and undertakes innovative research, education and clinical programs to promote the development and implementation of key health strategies for women. Good mental health for women is an important area of this health strategy. Currently in Australia 32% of women will experience anxiety over the course of their life-time. In addition, there are a number of reproductive and health conditions that not only involve physical symptoms but also increase risk of mental health issues such as anxiety.
The aim of ‘Anxiety: learn, think, do’ is to provide evidence-based information and resources to encourage and enable understanding of the emotions women may experience at different stages of their lives, in particular, anxiety. In developing this website portal we wanted women to have an accessible place to seek the knowledge, skills and strategies to address their individual mental and emotional health needs.
At any stage of life women can access information on symptoms, causes and ways to manage anxiety to actively improve their own lives in their own time. This includes for:
- Young women
- The middle years
- 65+ years
- Women with fertility problems
- Women who are pregnant or recently had a baby, and
- Women who are managing a chronic illness
